I had a bit of trouble getting to sleep last night as it turns out the Snug caravan park's unpowered area is in the path of a sea breeze, so my tent was a bit loud. Nevertheless, I managed to pack up pretty quick and get out at 8:30am. I wanted to get to my rest day campsite, The Lea, as early as possible as it was going to be 30 degrees in the afternoon and I wanted to do some washing and be able to dry it in the sun. Tomorrow's weather was not going to be suitable for drying.
The highway into Kingston was worse than I remembered, and it went similarly to how yesterday's stint on the highway went. Very relieved to reach Kingston, I got a pastry at Banjo's (I needed to try it since I haven't seen it in VIC) for some energy and stocked up on groceries for the rest day.
Riding to The Lea involved a 1.6km ascent to finish, which I had already planned to walk. But I didn't realise just HOW steep it was, even pushing my bike up was quite an effort, and involved many breaks for me. I started regretting my decision near the top but was already so close that I continued. If you want to go to The Lea, I reckon get a ride up the hill like I did the first time! I was definitely pretty happy to spend my rest day at such a beautiful campsite though.
I got in at 1pm, had a shower and felt weirdly clean, then did my washing. I got a bit fancy for dinner and made Nachos with beans and other veggies.
